Co-option of a new Councillor

The Parish Council met on Wednesday, 3 June 2026, at Leek Wootton Village Hall. Discussion included the following:

CLLR ADAM SMITH

The first item of business was to co-opt Adam Smith to the Council. Adam has attended a number of PC meetings and been getting to know the members for a few months.  He has lived in Leek Wootton since childhood and knows the parish well.  Also, his late father, Colin was a Councillor (co-opted in 2011, served 9 years, including 5 as Chair), so Adam was already familiar with some members and the issues facing the Council.

Adam has turned out many times to support the Council on a practical level and is keen to continue to help wherever possible.  He also enjoys meeting people and is keen to play a part in representing them.

Adam has some disability and accessibility issues and the PC is keen to support him in taking an active part in the Council’s future and very much looks forward to working with him.

Cllr Smith has already joined the Communications & Engagement Committee.
